Forty Five Ten is located in the shops at 20 Hudson Yards. The Dallas-born boutique continues to make a name for itself as one of the world’s most exciting retail destinations. The space’s signature traits are its bright millennial color palette, futuristic material features and playful art pieces.
The experience of the 16,000 square foot destination is one of full fun-house immersion, a playground of surreal spaces, high fashion and art.
The lighting approach was simple: accentuate the architecture, embellish the materials, and highlight the product.
We fully expected a lot of selfies to be taken, so making sure there was soft fill light was imperative.
This was achieved by including pads of light meant to simulate indirect natural light and soft tubes of light, woven into the flexible layout of adjustable track heads.
A hidden rope light tucked into a floor slot traces the undulating pink merchandise and dressing room walls and snakes through the main retail area adding a surreal moment of whimsy.
The pop art glass brick façade walls are front and backlit to add shimmer and movement to the storefronts.
