WME/IMG
It’s always fun when a client tells you they don’t want their office to feel like an office. It’s even more fun when they say they want it to feel like a hotel.
We’ve been seeing this trend in office design for a few years now, where the vibe is more boutique hotel lobby than corporate cubicle maze. And Rockwell Group as trendsetters, raised the bar with WME/IMG.
Located on the top floor of a historic Madison Square Park tower, the space was designed to celebrate the exposed concrete envelope of the building while contrasting it with rose gold accents, rich woods and walls of modern glass.
The lighting is warm and layered, a combination of museum track heads, continuous minimal lines of direct/indirect LED pendants, and luxe decorative fittings. We chose sleek black finishes for the architectural lighting which create a clean silhouette against the raw board-form ceilings. The decorative pendants and chandeliers are a playful mix of brass, copper and gold, with moments of soft ambient glow and shimmer. And it definitely doesn’t feel like an office.
